Alfred J. Brooks, Sr.

SAUGERTIES…. Alfred J. Brooks, Sr., 80, of Market St. died Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the Westchester Medical Center after a sudden illness.   Born December 14, 1938 in Saugerties he was the son of the late Alfred and Dorothy Speirs Brooks.  A Graduate of Saugerties High School he was a military veteran serving in the US Air Force for five years.   He owned and operated his own interior, exterior paint business for many years.   Active in the Saugerties Elks Lodge #2574 he was a Past Exalted Ruler, Charter and Life member.   He also held the position as a State Vice President of the NYS Elks Association.   He served on the Board of Directors of the Blue Mt. Cemetery Association.

            Predeceased by his wife, Emily, survivors include a Daughter, Karen Brooks of CA., and a Son, Alfred (Sue) Brooks, Jr. of West Hurley.   4 Sisters: Barbara Sweeney, Dolores (Bill) Voerg, and Carolyn Young all of Saugerties and Alice (Barry) Tarzy of New Jersey.  A Step Daughter: Bonnie (Cliff) Tienken and 3 Step Sons: William (Lisa), John (Tina) and Robert VanVoorhis. 7 Grandchildren: Christopher, Alicyn, Matthew and Nicole VanVoorhis, Patrick Mitchell, Joshua and Daniel Tienken.  Brother in Law: Sal Oliveri and Sister in Law, Judy Tompkins and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.   He was predeceased by a Brother, Harold and a Sister, Dorothy Oliveri.

            His Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Monday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts.   Friends will be received Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  Burial will follow in the Blue Mt.
