SAUGERTIES...Anthony J. Scarselli, 81, of Blue Mt. Rd. died Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital.  Born August 6, 1937 in Glasco, NY, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Ellen ( Cole ) Scarselli. A Veteran of the United States Army, he began a career in Law Enforcement as a Military Policeman in the 202nd Military Police Company in Chinon, France. Upon his Honorable Discharge in 1963, he continued in Law Enforcement with the Village of Saugerties Police Dept., and in 1966 he was selected and began a career in the New York State Police as a Trooper. After being promoted to the rank of Investigator in the State Police's Bureau of Criminal Investigation ( B.C.I. ), he served many years until his retirement in 1988. 


Retirement did not last long as Anthony joined the Town of Saugerties Police Department as a Part-Time Police Officer, and as a Court Officer for the Town of Saugerties Court, until 2017. He was a Life Member of the Police Benevolent Assoc.of New York State Troopers, member of the Town of Saugerties PBA, the Saugerties American Legion Post #72, a Life Member of the Saugerties Fish and Game Club, and was a founding member of the Algonquian Bowmen Association. A talented musician, he played guitar in the 1950's as a member of “The Strollers”, and later in “Country Club”, which performed throughout Ulster and Greene Counties. In addition, as Traditional Archery and Hunting were a passion of his, he served as a N.Y.S. DEC Bowhunter Education Instructor for 38 years.  


Predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan in 2005,whom he married in 1963, and brothers Patrick Scarselli in 2011, and Joseph Bonelli in 2002   Survivors include 2 Sons: Mark and Steven Scarselli, and a Daughter, Denise ( Scarselli ) Rose.  5 Grandchildren: Anthony, Kyle, & Jenna Scarselli, Brooke and Andrew Reisigl.   Sisters: Ellen Carpenter and Tanya Bonelli, and 3 Brothers: Albert, Arthur, and Pasquale Scarselli Jr., as well as numerous nieces and nephews also survive. 

His Funeral Procession will form 9:15 AM Monday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts. Thence to St. John the Evangelist RC Church where at 10:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered.  Interment will follow with Military Honors in the Blue Mt.
