Catherine Nieffer

SAUGERTIES... . Catherine H. Nieffer, 79, of Esopus Creek Rd. died Friday, June 22, 2018 at the Albany Medical Center. Born June 7, 1939 in Tenafly, NJ she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Catherine Hoag. A graduate of Tenafly High School and a 1960 graduate of Englewood Hospital School of Nursing, she was employed as a RN for NYS for over 20 years and several more years for several area doctors.

Active in the Community she was a member of the Katsbaan Reformed Church and Consistory, a Sunday School Teacher and Secretary of the Ladies Aid Group. She was a member of Emmanual-Wiltwyck Chapter #155 Order of the Eastern Star, and a Past Grand Officer of NYS. She was a participant in the Saugerties Historical Society and also a part of a Civil War group display at the Kiersted House. Her and husband, Bill, were members of the Civil War 120th Infantry Reenactment group which marched in many parades in Saugerties.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, William F. Nieffer, 2 Sons: George (Nancy) Drumm, Jr. and Robert Drumm. 2 Daughters: Lori (John) Kay and Marcy (Frank) Smedek. A Sister, Janet (Mickey Myer) Parr and a Brother, Edmund (Lori) Hoag, Jr. 9 Grandchildren: Corine, Frank, Elise, Edmund, and Sarah (David Shultis) Drumm, Kristen, & Matthew (Lara Burce) Kay , Emily & Abigail Smedek Several Nieces and Nephews and their families and other extended family members including previous husband, George Drumm, Sr. also survive.

Her Funeral Procession will form 10:15 AM Wednesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts. Thence to the Katsbaan Reformed Church where at 11:00 AM her Funeral Service will be held. Interment will follow in the Mt. Marion Cemetery. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Family suggests donations in her memory be made to the Katsbaan Reformed Church, 1801 Old Kings Hgh.,
Saugerties, NY 12477 towards repair to the church steeple. Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family @SeamonWilseyFuneralHome
