WOODSTOCK – Dr. Era Bernard Davis, 91, of Dallas, TX, died Saturday, August 24, 2019, at her loving family’s home in Woodstock, NY.
Dr. Davis was born November 30, 1927, to the late Roy and Eva Reynolds Bernard, Sr. in Effie, Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana. Excelling in both her personal and professional careers, she received her MA from LSU and her PhD with honors in Textile Science from Texas Woman’s University, Denton, TX. During the 60s, she researched radiation’s effect on space suits during NASA’s burgeoning exploration period. Her creative pursuits continued in interior design, fashion, travelling and art collecting.
A favorite professor and generous colleague at Northeast Louisiana State University (University of Louisiana at Monroe) for many years, Dr. Davis maintained a high level of aesthetics and dedication.
Survivors include her daughter Lana (Neil) Chassman, Woodstock; granddaughters Molly (James) Chassman-Hill, Woodstock; Deirdre Chassman, New Jersey; Keira Chassman, New York City; great-grandsons Peter, Paul, Max and Jack. Special gratitude goes to Hudson Valley Hospice and devoted friends Alexandra Honari and Carolyn and Bob Bowling, all of Dallas, TX.
