Lucille Doyle Obituary

DELMAR… Lucille A. (Lucy) Doyle died peacefully Saturday, November 17, 2018 at her home.   Born in Flushing, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Romilda DelliBovi Imparato. Lucy spent her childhood in Saugerties, New York, growing up in her beloved family home in Barclay Heights. She was a graduate of St. Mary of the Snow Parochial School and Saugerties High School.   She continued her education, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice at Russell Sage College in Troy. She was employed for many years in the Albany County Probation Department and later as a Credentialed Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany. She was also a past working member at Honest Weight Food Co-op in Albany and a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle parish in Delmar.

Lucy loved her family, including her beagles, Pepper and Buttons, her pet duck Penny, and all animals. She was a “second mom” to Susan (Smith) Sardinha and Kate Mounteer, and “Grandma Lucy” to Bryan, Grace, Faith, Trinity and Megan. She loved to swim, and logged many miles in the water, including her years as a respected swim instructor at the Jewish Community Center and the St. Anne’s summer swim program.  She was a horseback rider, a walker, especially at Five Rivers, and insisted on keeping up with “what’s going on in the world” by reading the New York Times and watching her favorite news programs. She delighted in her Italian heritage and enjoyed a wonderful trip to Italy with her daughter, where she met two of her first cousins and some of their children. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Survivors include two daughters: Patricia A. Doyle of Albany and Mary Lou (Peter) Tufford of Ithaca and a son, Thomas R. (Jean) Doyle of Groton, MA.    Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her brothers: Joseph, Edward and Victor, and her sisters Phyllis Conway, Anna (Nan) Hanofee, Helen Sullivan and Cecelia Rinaldi.

Her Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM  Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Saugerties with the burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Barclay Heights, Saugerties. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM.  Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Five Rivers, 56 Game Farm Rd., Delmar, NY 12054 or The Sage Fund for Excellence, The Sage Colleges, 65 1st St., Troy, NY 12180.
