Mary (Hennegan) Coons

SAUGERTIES…. Mary Hennegan Coons, 90, of Simmons Dr. died Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Kingston City Hospital.    Born January 21, 1928 in Saugerties she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Blanche Hennegan.   She was employed for many years as a Teachers Aide in the Saugerties Centrals Schools.   Active in the community Mary was a member of the American Legion Auxillary Post #72, she was a charter member of St. Mary’s PTO.   She loved to bowl, and was a member of the Saugerties Bowlers Club serving as a Past President of the Women’s Bowling Association and secretary of the Sawyer Women’s Bowling League.   She was inducted into the Saugerties Women’s Hall of Fame in 1974 and was also a member of the “600” Bowling Club.   She served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Ulster County Junior Bowling Club.   She did volunteer work at the Well and the Children’s Christmas Toy Store as a member of the Saugerties Area Council of Churches.   A member of the Friends of Saugerties Public Library she volunteered in the Children’s Room.

Predeceased by her husband, Douglas in 1989, survivors include 2 Sons: Jeffrey (Sandra) and Garth (Toni Ann) Coons both of Saugerties.  4 Grandchildren: Kyle (Jana), Alyssa Dustin and Zachary Coons.  Great Grandchildren: Kathrina Raffioni, Angelo Musillo and Lydia Coons.  Step Great Grandson: Aiden Kiernan.  A Sister: Janet (Joseph} Goglia and several nieces and nephews also survive.   She was predeceased by a Daughter, Cynthia and a step grandson: Kristopher Kiernan.

Her Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., Cor. Of John & Lafayette Sts.  Friends will be received Tuesday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.   Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.   Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family on Mary’s Tribute Wall @SeamonWilseyFuneralHome
