Albert E. VanRoy

SAUGERTIES - Albert E. VanRoy, 90, of Blue Mt. Rd. died Friday, April 18, 2025 in Cohoes NY.   Born January 23, 1935 in Queens he was the son of the late John and Margaret VanRoy.  A veteran of the US Army he served during the Korean War.    He was employed at IBM in Kingston for many years.  

Predeceased by his wife, Winifred, in 2020, survivors include his daughter, Loreen VanRoy-Walker of Syracuse, and two sons, Scott (Karen) VanRoy of Averill Park and Keith ( Julie) VanRoy of Saugerties.  

Several grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews also survive.   He was predeceased by his brothers, Patrick and Jack VanRoy.

Al was extremely devoted to his wife Winifred for more than 63 years.  His passion was caring for her and caretaking the gardens on their property in Blue Mountain.  Many mornings and nights you would hear a scratch of a rake in the leaves and a yell from the house from Wini, "Al, it's time to come in!" His passion for life will be missed by his family and friends.  

His Funeral Service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.  Interment will follow in the Blue Mt. Cemetery. Friends will be received Saturday from 9:30 AM-10:30 AM.   Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
