Joseph Alvin Walbroehl, 90, of Hommelville Rd., passed away on November 4, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. A lifelong Saugerties resident, he was born on Winstons Farm and served as a Helicopter Crew Chief in the Army Air Corps. Alvin worked as a mechanical engineer at IBM in Kingston for over 35 years and was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. His passions included hunting, restoring classic cars, and serving with the Ulster County Mounted Patrol for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Peters Walbroehl, with whom he recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary; a son, Greg (Zan) Walbroehl; two daughters, Laurie Hanenberg and Holly Conway; four grandchildren: Gregory (Jesse) Walbroehl, Dylan (Brooke) Hanenberg, Courtney, and Cody Conway; two great-grandchildren: Gregory James Walbroehl and Jack Walbroehl; two sisters: Anne Ferrigan and Gail Bechtold; a brother, Correll Walbroehl; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., corner of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties, with burial to follow in Blue Mt. Cemetery.
