Amy Panza

WOODSTOCK....Amy Patricia Panza, 39, of Shotwell Road, died Monday February 27, 2023 at the Westchester Medical Center. She was born in Bloomington, Illinois on April 28, 1983.  She grew up in Woodstock, attended Onteora Schools, and earned an Associates Degree from Ulster Community College.  Throughout her youth and into adulthood, she was involved in community theater.  Highlights were roles as Helena in Midsummer Nights Dream with Woodstock Youth Theater and the Audrey II puppet with Shandaken Theatrical Society in Phoenicia.  She taught infant and toddler swim classes at the Kingston YMCA for many years, life guarded at Minnewaska, and was a teaching assistant at the Center for Spectrum Services, working with autistic children.  Most recently, she was the bartender at the Woodstock American Legion where she felt honored to become acquainted with so many of our local veterans.  She was president of the Ladies' Auxiliary at the post. 
 Amy was a creative, talented person who could mimic any sound, could sing and dance, could convince little children to put their faces in the water at the Y, and could handle people in difficult situations.  Survivors include her parents, Kenneth and Marcia Panza, daughter Kylie Becker, brother James Panza, aunts and uncles John and Denise Dobelek, Ellen and Dave Paulson, and Bill and Judy Cruthis, many cousins, and her many dear friends in Woodstock.  She is also survived by her birth family in the midwest.  Her dream came true of meeting and being loved by them.  
Her Funeral Service will be held at 2 pm Sunday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Burial will follow in the Town of Woodstock Cemetery. Friends may visit prior to the service beginning at 1pm. A memorial Tribute Book will be organized using condolences and photos shared with the family at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
