SAUGERTIES....Bertrand Fernand Lareau, 91, of Mt. View Ave. passed away on Sunday, September 5th 2021 from complications of COVID-19.
Son of the late Raphael and Rosalie (nee St. Onge), Bert was born in La Patire, Quebec, Canada on December 7, 1929. Though born in Canada, he was very proud to become a naturalized American citizen in 1963. A Saugerties area resident since 1973, he was employed by Tree Preservation Co., until his retirement in 1993 where he was a proud member of IBEW Local 1249.
He was a devoted family man and friend and if you needed a hand he would be there. Never one to sit still, he loved hunting, fishing, tending his garden, especially his tomatoes, and finding things to fix around the house. Bert loved playing cards and watching Westerns (his “Cowboys”), hockey, and baseball. He also enjoyed playing hockey in his younger years and watching his grandsons’ and nephews’ games at the Kiwanis Ice Arena. Uncle Bert could frequently be found at Cantine Field watching his nephews play baseball.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 67 years Jacqueline (nee Vallieres) and daughter Diane Faraday (Philip). He was predeceased by his son Ronald. Beloved grandfather to Kevin (Cameron), Ryan (Alexandra) and Caitlin. Beloved great-grandfather to Amelia, Jack, and a great-granddaughter to be. He is also survived by two sisters Doris Latendresse (Donat) and Heloise Audet (Armand) and his brother Berthold (Germaine). He is predeceased by his brothers Leopold, Aurele (Rita), and Florian (Monique). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
To honor Bert’s memory, family and friends will gather on Friday September 10th from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. His Funeral Procession will form 9:15 AM Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties thence to St. Mary of the Snow RC Church where at 10:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment will follow in the Blue Mountain Cemetery.

Family suggests donations in his memory be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org. Expressions of condolences may be shared with his family at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
