Becky,

I am so terribly sorry for your loss.  We haven't worked together at JLE in years, but I still remember how deeply you loved your son.  You would beam with pride when you shared something witty that your son said.  May he now have eternal peace.

Daniel, you were amazing and exceptional. When you healed your body by losing over 250 lbs and cured yourself of diabetes, sleep apnea and psoriasis it was a big task you accomplished. The passion for research to achieve that task was fantastic to be part of. The new energy and clarity, the ability to dream and play in ways previously closed to you and your passion for life was inspirational. To watch you in your certainty that the body could heal us in ways we couldn’t comprehend and the passion with which you pursued that, brought me new hope. I did my role for you as a mother the best that I knew how. I came up against forces and situations that even being a mother I could not protect you from. We will miss your physical presence to lighten the room and explain things to us.

Dearest Daniel,

I am brokenhearted to learn that you have left. You had one of the most brilliant minds I have ever encountered. Talking with you was like playing a game of perfectly calibrated ping=pong. You had an uncanny ability to intuit and complete my sentences, make puns, double-back, shift ahead, and engage my own brain in ways that felt like soaring. I am so happy that Dr. Larsen introduced us and allowed me top be part of your experiences at Stone Mountain. Thank you for letting me into your marvelous mind.

Dear Becky, Sonya, Andre,
I am so sorry. I know how it is to lose a brother. I miss him at the oddest times.
May you find strength in the memories of his life and with each other and friends.

I had the great joy of having my first born son with me for 34 years and I am so proud of his many fine attributes and positive impacts on so many. As it is said "may his memory be a blessing!" My heart is filled with grief and rage against the machine which is the Ulster County Mental Healthy System and their NY partners who not only failed Daniel over and over again but thousands more like him. 50,000 people take their own lives now annually and over 50 million of us suffer from mental health issues! It is past time to have a movement like ACT UP and BLACK LIVES MATTER to hit the streets everywhere to demand better mental health care for all of our Daniels! Please join me in this effort however you can this would be the best tribute for my son.
