David Graves Obituary
David R. Graves,66, of Saugerties, died Tuesday April 28, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family. Born in Niagara Falls and raised in Lewiston and Stamford, he was the son of Phyllis Graves and the late Robert Graves.
Dave was a graduate of Oneonta State, where he majored in geology, and did post graduate work in hydrology, as well as being a student book store manager.
An area resident since 1989, he played soccer in Albany and Poughkeepsie leagues and was a former AYSO coach in Saugerties.
Survivors include his Mom, his wife, Cathy, his son Timothy, two sisters : Lynne (Mark) Stephenson of Utah and Gail Graves of Philadelphia, one brother, Glenn ( Katy) Graves of Stamford, and several nieces and nephews.
He was employed by NYS Department of Transportation working in road design, environmental analysis, and emergency management.
Following retirement he worked part time as a disaster assistance representative for NY State.
Dave treasured his life long friends from Stamford Central High School and Oneonta State.
His interests included music, history, and genealogy. Dave enjoyed and became skilled in building dry stone walls as a young adult. He loved spending time with family, including his beloved pet dogs.
