SAUGERTIES - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dawn Marie Chlud, who left us on Friday, April 10, 2026 at the age of 61. Born on January 9, 1965, she lived a life defined by compassion, devotion, and unwavering love for her family and community.
She is survived by her three children, Nicole Melber, Michael Melber, Loren (Christian) Benincasa; lifelong partner, Edward Martino; five cherished grandchildren, Lilliana Lopez, Devon Rowles, Lucciano, Landon, and Luca Benincasa; her loving mother, Margaret Chlud; five siblings, Mark Chlud, Darren Chlud, Kimberly Chlud, Kelly (Jason) Ilgner, and Mandy Kelder; nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of friends who were truly her extended family. She is predeceased by her father, Vladimir Chlud in 1985. To know her was to love her, and her absence will be felt deeply by all who had the privilege of being part of her life.
For 30 years, she dedicated her career to The Arc Mid-Hudson, where she poured her heart into helping others live full, independent, and meaningful lives. Her work was not just a profession—it was her calling, and she made a lasting impact on countless individuals and families.
Outside of her career, her greatest joy was her family. Known affectionately as “Mimi,” she adored her grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. She was a constant source of love, strength, and support, always showing up for those who needed her most.
She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—exploring the beauty of Upstate New York through every season, riding snowmobiles, gathering with family, enjoying a good cup of coffee, and spending time with her lifelong partner at vintage car shows and speedways. She enjoyed her Tuesday nights bowling in the Saugerties Women's League and line dancing with friends. These moments brought her great joy and created lasting memories for those she loved.
Her legacy is one of kindness, selflessness, and unconditional love. She leaves behind a family rooted in those same values and a community forever changed by her generosity of spirit.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
Her Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Friday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc. corner of John and Lafayette Sts. Saugerties. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 pm and 7- 9 pm . Memorial contributions may be made to The Arc of Ulster-Greene Foundation. Please share a memory or photo in her Tribute Book at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
