Edith Kathryn (McSpirit) Dougherty

BRADENTON, FLA. - Edith Kathryn McSpirit Dougherty, 77, formerly of Saugerties died Saturday, November 2, 2024 at her residence.  Born January 17, 1947 in Kingston she was the daughter of the late Richard and Alberta Leverich McSpirit. Edith was a graduate of Kingston High School Class of 1965,   She was married to James (Jim) Dougherty for 43 years prior to his passing in 2022.

Edith worked at AT&T and Verizon as a switch equipment technician for many years.  After her retiring she pursued her hobby of sweepstaking, winning many major prizes over the years.  She was a member of the Real Bunch of Winners, Albany, NY and attended many National Sweepstakes Conventions.  She and her husband loved to travel.

Survivors include her son, James Dougherty, III and his wife, Dr. Sara Barnes Dougherty of Bradenton, Fla., Her brother, Richard McSpirit, Jr. and his children, Kristy (Fred) Mannocchi and Richard McSpirit, III.  A grandniece, Anastasia Mannocchi and a grandnephew, Sasha Mannocchi.   Edith was predeceased by her husband, James, a sister in law, Karen McSpirit and a nephew, Ryan McSpirit.

Her Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.   Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Kingston.   Friends will be received Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  Expressions of condolence may be shared with  the family on Edie's Tribute Wall at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
