Edward Sinnott Obituary

Edward L. Sinnott, known affectionately as Ed to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024, at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY.  He was born on April 16, 1937, in Saugerties, NY, to the late Edward L. and Catherine McGraw Sinnott.
He was a brother to Joseph, Sgt. John "Jack," Richard, Leonard, and Frank Sinnott, and a sister, Ann Ward, who all predeceased him.  Ed's life was enriched by his marriage to his beloved wife, Caroline "Snooks" Sinnott, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and laughter. Together, they raised their daughter, Patricia Robinson of Glasco, and mourned the loss of their son, Edward M. Sinnott, in 2018.
A proud Army veteran, Ed served his country from 1960 to 1962 and was honorably discharged. His patriotism was a cornerstone of his character, and he carried it with him throughout his life.  Ed was a dedicated employee of Alpha Portland Cement Plant in Cementon, NY. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph's RC Church in Glasco and a former member of the Saugerties Elks Lodge No. 2574.
An avid golfer, he enjoyed the camaraderie and challenge of the game. He also played softball for the SAA men's league, where his competitive spirit and friendly banter were always in full swing. Ireland held a special place in Ed's heart, and his greatest joy was visiting the land of his ancestors.
Known for his quick wit and ever-present smile, Ed never missed an opportunity to share a joke or indulge in life's simple pleasures. His love for a good ice cream, cookie, or candy was well-known, and he was always ready to savor a sweet treat with his grandchildren, Corey Sinnott, Nikolas Robinson, and Shea Standley, and great-grandchild, Kalliope Sinnott.
His Funeral Procession will form 9:15 am Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.  Procession will continue to St. Joseph’s RC Church for a 10 am Funeral Mass. Burial will be in the New Paltz Veteran's Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Friday. Ed's journey on earth has concluded, but his story will be told with smiles and fond memories for generations to come. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Further obituary information and condolences may be shared at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com.
