Edwin G. Luther

SAUGERTIES - Edwin G. Luther Sr., 77, of Rte. 212, died suddenly Saturday, November 22, 2025.   Born April 13, 1948 in Saugerties he was the son of the late Reginald and Emily (Casperson) Luther.   A lifetime area resident where he was employed for many years at Gallaghers Garage and R.C. Lacy Ford in Catskill.  

Ed is survived by his daughter Lisa and her husband Kenneth Brink of Saugerties and a son Edwin Luther Jr. of Palenville.  Ed was most proud of his granddaughter Emily and would often bring her to visit his many friends while "grandpa sitting" in her younger years, where she learned many lessons.  

He is also survived by his three sisters: Eileen Araujo of Florida, Anita Hinchey of Saugerties and Priscilla Whitaker of Florida and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his siblings: Regina Buley his twin sister, Marlene, James, Rusty, Barry, and Ernie Luther.

Whether you were family or friends with Ed from working on an engine in the garage, joining him with a Crown Royal, or just listening to his stories was to share a smile and you didn't want to leave.  Besides being proud of his granddaughter, he loved showing off his 1962 Chevy Impala either at a car show or lighting up the tires any chance he could.  There were many trips to Lebanon Valley Speedway where his family and friends would cheer him while racing down the track like he did the streets of Saugerties growing up.

His Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.  Burial will follow in Blue Mt.
