SAUGERTIES.... Eleanor C. “Ellie” Henkel, 79, of High Falls Road passed peacefully in her sleep Thursday, January 14, 2021 at her residence. Born February 15, 1941 in Kingston, NY she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Lasher. A lifetime area resident she was employed as the bookkeeper for many years at Bill Parr Construction as well as the secretary for the Town of Saugerties Zoning Board for over 20 years. She was a faithful member of the Blue Mountain Reformed Church where she served as an Elder and enjoyed many years teaching Sunday School. She was a life member of the Saxton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a founding member of Cub Scout Pack 131. Ellie loved being at home doing crossword puzzles, watching horse racing and perusing the newest catalog for the next gadget she could get her hands on. She will be forever remembered for her delicious coffee cakes. She lived a life of faith and devotion with the love of God in her heart.

A devoted wife and mother, she is survived by her husband of 56 years Jules, two sons: David and his wife Michelle and William and his companion, Tammy Cole. A daughter, Patricia and her husband Edward Brotherton of NC. A brother, Thomas (Margaret) Lasher of Saugerties and a sister, Dorothy Vesey. Three grandchildren: David Henkel, Michael and Katherine Brotherton and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by a brother, John Lasher.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 17th at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. Of John & Lafayette Sts. Saugerties. Friends will be received from 2–4pm and 7–8pm concluding with a service at 8pm. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Blue Mountain Church, 10 Church Rd., Saugerties, and the Saxton Fire Dept. Auxiliary, PO Box 166. Saugerties, Care of Ladies Auxiliary.
