Eleanor Sawchuk

SAUGERTIES…Eleanor Sawchuk, 78, of Willow Rd. died suddenly Sunday, December 26, 2021 at her residence.   Born June 8, 1943 in Philadelphia she was the daughter of the late Louis and Jeanette Vendetti.   She was a graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School Class of 1961.   An area resident since 1965 she previously resided in Philadelphia.

Eleanor was a active parishioner of St. Mary/St. Joseph RC Church where she served as a Eucharist Minister and member of the Altar Rosary Society.    She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Saugerties American Legion Post #72 and the Saugerties Columbiette’s Council #4536.   She was employed as a dental assistant to Dr. Michael Greco in Saugerties for many years.  

Predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Brian in 2019,  a daughter, Nicole Lynn Sawchuk in 1973, and her sisters Martha Brindisi and Theresa Jonas.   Survivors include three sons: Brian and his wife, Diann Sawchuk of Saugerties, Eric of Walden, and Kevin and his wife, Julie of New Jersey.  A daughter, Marylynn and her husband, Chris Costello of Saugerties.   Seven grandchildren: Aiven, Liam, Claira and Nicholas Sawchuk, Nicole, Addison and Louis Costello, her nieces including, Ann Kernan, Janet Brindisi, Christine Funchion, Brenda Lee Haberman, and Christine Sawchuk and a nephew Rick Sawchuk.

Her Funeral Procession will form 9:15 AM Fridayat the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties thence to St. Mary of the Snow where at 10:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered.   Friends will be received Thursday 2-4and 7-9 PM.  Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saugerties.    Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family on Eleanor’s Tribute Wall at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
