Eleanor K. Smith

Eleanor K. Smith, 70, of Saugerties passed away Monday, September 18, 2023 at the Vassar Brothers Hospital surrounded by her family. 

Born in Brooklyn on February 21, 1953 to the late John and Eleanor Rooney, she enjoyed being outdoors taking walks and reading in the sunshine. She was a generous contributor to veteran and animal welfare charities and took pride in her care and attention to her many varied houseplants. Her greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Vincent James Smith, Sr.; children, Vincent (Sherrie) Smith of Saugerties, Lori (Greg) Klein of Sparta, NJ, Jennifer (Peter) Natoli of Ramsey, NJ, Heather (Patrick) Hart of Red Hook, Robert Smith of Kingston and Christopher (Jenny) Smith of Troy; twelve grandchildren, Vincent, Chelsea, Hannah, Ryan, Liam, Delaney, Andrew, Madeline, Bryan, Brooke, Oliver and Wyatt; great grandsons, Christian and Hutson; and sister Joan Rooney. She was predeceased by her siblings, Edward, Patrick, John, Joseph and Catherine.

Her Funeral Service will be held 10 am Friday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Burial will follow in the Blue Mt. Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Thursday. A memorial tribute book will be organized using condolences and photos shared with the family at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
