Elena Bonjolo

Elena Bonjolo, 88,  died Sunday, June 7. 2026.  Born June 15, 1937 in Ploče, Zadar, Croatia she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ana Curkovich.   

An area resident for almost 70 years, she was predeceased by her husband, Marko. Survivors include four sons: Dennis (Renee Paolilli), David, Alen (Renee Gambino) and Mark (Erynn DelColliano); a sister, Ida Perovich of Australia and three grandchildren: Michael, Alec and Olivia.

Elena was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Marko Bonjolo. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and faith.

A dedicated homemaker, Elena’s greatest accomplishment and pride was raising her four sons whom she loved deeply and unconditionally.  

Though small in stature, Elena possessed a vibrant and unforgettable personality. She had a remarkable ability to leave a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was courageous, inspirational, kind and loving. Her sense of humor and joyful spirit brightened the lives of all who knew her. Her laugh is simply unforgettable. She brought and shared it wherever she went. 

Elena was a friend to many. She loved traveling and sharing life with her girlfriends over many years building memories only dear friends could share. Elena’s faith in God was undeniable. She drew joy, strength and understanding from her faith. She glorified God every single day, praising all that surrounded her in nature and life. One of her most favorite things to do was, as she would always say, “peddle in the yard”. She was equally kind as she was stubborn. She was a force. A presence. She always said she wanted to be three things in her life. She wanted to be a good wife, a good mother and a good neighbor. She achieved all three without question. 

She will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, community and anyone who had the privilege of knowing her. 

A service of remembrance to celebrate her life will be held Friday, June 26, 2026 at the Saugerties American Legion Post #72, 30 John St., Saugerties, NY   12477 from 6PM-8PM.    Photographs and expressions of condolence may be shared with the family on Elena’s Tribute Book at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
