SAUGERTIES… Elizabeth “ Betty” J. Cotich, 90, of John Carle Rd. and formerly of Cementon, died Thursday, June 03, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family. Born December 31, 1930 in Saugerties she was the daughter of the late George and Anna Sinnott Bartells. A lifetime area resident, she was employed over the years at JJ Newberry’s, Miranda’s Dress Factory and the Main Street Restaurant all in Saugerties.
She was a member of the Cementon Sportsman’s Club and for many years she and her husband enjoyed snowbirding in Myrtle Beach with family and close friends. Some of Betty’s hobbies included crocheting, crafting and coloring, however family was most important to her. She enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and her husband Joe, who referred to her always as “Miss”, would have celebrated 70 years of marriage in November.
Besides her husband, Joe, survivors include two sons: Joseph A. (Deb) Cotich of New Paltz, John R. (Trina) Cotich of Cementon and a daughter, Nancy J. (Tom) Foley of Saugerties. A brother, Jack Bartells of Saugerties, four grandchildren: Chris (Joann) Cotich, Kara (Peter) Gray, Heather (Keith) Pruden and Taylor (Ashton) Foley. Five great grandchildren (Harper, Carter, Maya, Catch and Cricket), step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by two brothers: William and R. Burke Bartells.
Friends will be received on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Her Funeral Procession will form 9:15 AM Tuesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts. Thence to St. John the Evangelist RC Church where at 10:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
