Florence Snyder

SAUGERTIES…… Florence M. Snyder, 98, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023.  She was a long time resident of Saugerties.  She and her husband, Cliff, moved to Slingerlands, NY three years ago.  Florence was born on October 5, 1924 in Queens NY.  She attended St. Agnes Academy, College Point, NY.  Florence was married to the love of her life on December 10, 1950 in Blessed Sacrament Church, Jackson Heights, NY.  Florence and Cliff celebrated their 69th Anniversary before his passing in 2020.

Florence was very proud of her family.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, beloved grandsons, friends and neighbors. Holidays spent with family meant the world to her.  Card games ensued after every family dinner and she was known to play fast and loose with the rules.

Florence was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #72, b Saugerties Garden Club and annually worked the Board of Elections.  She enjoyed travel, having visited England, Ireland, with her husband, son and daughter-in-law.  Florence also attended several reunions around the country with her husband’s World War II unit.  She and Cliff spent many winters in Jupiter and Fort Myers, Florida.
 

Florence was the daughter of the late William and Catherine(Beggi)Parr.  She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford, in 2020.  She is survived by daughter, Jeanne Murphy of Burnt Hills, a son, Clifford (Colleen) Snyder of Cape Cod, two grandsons--Brendan and Colin Murphy and her sister-in-law, Eleanor “Pidge” Snyder.

Special thanks to Dr. Eugene Heslin and staff for the care they provided Florence through the years.  98 years and you played a major role.  Sincerest gratitude to Beverwyck Assisted Living, staff and friends for providing a home away from home and for the attention you paid Florence.  She loved your little community and cherished the time spent there. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass Monday at 11:00 am at St Mary’s Church, Saugerties, NY.  Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saugerties. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.  Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com.
