Frances “Dolly” Depoala Resso, 86, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by family, after a long battle with dementia. Born April 20, 1938, she was the first born of six children to Andrew and Louise Mazzie Depoala, in Glasco, New York.
Frances graduated from Saugerties High School in 1956, and married her husband Thomas Resso Sr. On April 28, 1957 at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Glasco, NY. They were married for 67 years. Predeceded by her parents and brother Andrew Jr., she is survived by her beloved husband, children Louann Resso Cafaldo (John), Thomas Resso Jr. (Ethel), Mark Resso (Joanne), sister Rosemary, brothers Gabriel (Jeanne), Matthew (Donna), and Stephen (Sally), and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by her true joy – her grandchildren Thomas Resso III (Katie), Angelo Resso (Julie), Jennifer Webb, Ashley Cafaldo, Kristin Cafaldo Schroeder (Tristan), Rosanna Cafaldo, Nicole Lowrey (Jon), Melissa Daly (Jesse), and great grandchildren Alexandria, Liam, Matthew, Adalia, Aleta, Cierra, Bradley and Raelynn.
Frances briefly worked for IBM, but the majority of her career was with the Saugerties School District as a lunchroom cashier at Riccardi Elementary. She just loved the children and was always buying ice cream for them. Tom often told her she spent more than she made. Frances was the most loving person anyone could meet; always helping those who were in need. She enjoyed traveling, which she and Tom did frequently, as well as wintering in Florida for many years. She enjoyed to knit, play dominos, and shop. She will be greatly missed.
A special thank you to her children, and caregiver Cindy for taking care of her so she could stay in the home she loved. To Jeanne and Andrea for always being there when needed, and to hospice and their staff for the wonderful support and kindness.
Her Funeral Procession will form 9:15 am Tuesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Sts. Thence to St. Joseph's RC Church where a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Burial will follow in the St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3 - 7 pm Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at 374 Violet Ave. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
