Francis Alan "Buddy" "Fat Bud" VanGaasbeck

Francis Alan "Buddy" VanGaasbeck, 67 died, Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his daughter and son. He was born in Kingston, NY, on October 21, 1956 to the late Francis and Carolyn VanGaasbeck (Galietta).

Buddy had a love for the open road. Whether it was driving for countless days in his 18 wheeler, or cruising down the highways on his Harley Davidson. His life was filled with adventure and he embodied a wild and carefree spirit. To know him, was to know that he truly was one of a kind. A shirt off-of-his back kind of man. 

Buddy found peace behind the hum of his engines and endless horizons. Criss-crossing the country in his rig, thriving in the camaraderie of the Harely Davidson community, sharing Lachmanns pastries with his kids and hooting and hollering every step of the way. He was so loud and obnoxious, but in the best way possible.  His presence will be missed by many.

Survivors include his children, Salina (Mandy Woods) VanGaasbeck of Asheville, NC, and Buddy (Ashley) VanGaasbeck of Kingston; grandchildren, Ashton Habernig and Landon VanGaasbeck; siblings, Charles (Dutch) VanGaasbeck and Joann Hart: and his companion, Linda Henderson.

His Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday the 20th at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Sts, Saugerties. Visitation will be held from  3:00-5:00pm. Condolences may be shared with the family at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
