Franklin H. Auer

GREENVILLE….. Franklin H. “Frank” Auer, 76, of County Rte. 403 and formerly of Quarryville died Monday, June 28, 2021 at his residence.  Born October 1, 1944 in Saugerties he was the son of the late Albert and Ethel Sparling Auer.   A Veteran of the Vietnam War, Frank served in the United States Marine Corp where he attained the rank of Staff Sgt.   A lifetime area resident he was employed for many years at Lehigh Portland Cement Co. in Cementon, NY. 

He was a charter member of the Saugerties Elks Lodge #2574, Past Commander and member of the Saugerties VFW Post #5034 and the American Legion Post #72. He helped anyone in need.  Was known by his dimples and loving smile to many.  Frank loved landscaping work.   He enjoyed being outside. Predeceased by his wife, Sarah, survivors include two daughters: Garnet (Craig) Kennedy of Saugerties and Melody Auer of Greenville.   Two sons: Lee Krom of Palenville and Garret (Nicole) Auer of Greenville.  Two sisters: Amy (Fred) Wind and Jannie Griffin.  A brother, Albert (Debbie) Auer, Jr.   Ten grandchildren, Austin Speed,Zachary Speed,Amber Banas,Ryan Boyde,Kirstin Krom,Nathaniel Auer,Jamie McKnight,Miranda McKnight,James McKnight,and Ciara Ransom.Five great grandchildren Jasmine,Kayden,Roman,Patrick, and Kolsen. Several nieces and nephews also survive.He was predeceased by his son James H. McKnight Sr. and siblings Hugh Auer,Henry Auer,Nellie Williams,May Goodrich,Rachel Coyle and Thomas Auer.

His Funeral Service will be held 8:30 PM Tuesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. Of John & Lafayette St., Saugerties.   Friends will be received Tuesday 7:00-8:30 PM.  His Funeral Procession will form 11:45 AM Wednesday at the Funeral Home and process to Mt.
