“Jean” Dussol, 94, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in NH. She was born on April 8,1930 in Fremont, NY to Charles and Susan Stewart. She grew up in rural North Branch NY, attending school in a one-room schoolhouse before moving to Middletown, NY where she attended the city high school. She continued her education at UCCC taking Banking & Finance courses.
Jean met her husband Henry, aka “Buddy”, while roller-skating in Newburgh NY. They were married in Mt. Marion, raised their family there and celebrated 68 years together in 2018. In 2021, Jean moved to NH to be closer to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family came first and everyone knew she was very proud of her family all the time.
Jean enjoyed a banking career with the Kingston Trust Co. and then KeyBank in Kingston, Hurley and Saugerties. She worked many positions leading to Branch Manager and Assistant Vice President in Saugerties with awards for being “Top Sales Achiever”. She was a member of the Quarter Century Club and retired in 1997. In retirement, she drove a school bus part-time and delighted in being with the school children.
Jean was a real sweetheart to everyone who knew and loved her. She was kind, bright and cheerful in all aspects of her life, making everyone feel special. She loved fun and games.
Jean was active in Saugerties Kiwanis and enjoyed co-chairing their annual “Coats for Kids” project. She also volunteered at the Saugerties Garlic Festival and Old Stonehouse Day in Hurley. She participated in many fund-raising events for the American Cancer Society and March of Dimes. Jean was a member of the Hurley Reformed Church and participated in the Women’s Guild.
Jean is survived by her children: Susan (Bruce) Luhrs of Weare, NH, Richard (Yvonne) Dussol of Barrington, NH; 4 Grandchildren: Matthew (Nicole) Luhrs of Merrimack, NH, Marci (Philip Major) Hendrick of Wolfeboro, NH, Greg Dussol of Newmarket, NH and Michelle (Nathan) Gaudreau of Barrington, NH; 7 Great-Grandchildren Dominic, Katalena and Gavin Luhrs, Finley Hendrick, and Vivian, Delilah and Brody Gaudreau; Several nieces and nephews also survive. Jean was predeceased by her parents, 3 half-brothers, a half-sister and her loving husband.
Her Funeral Service will be held 3 pm Sunday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc. Visiting hours will be held prior, from 1-3 pm. Her Funeral Procession will form 10 am Monday at the funeral home and process to the Mount Marion Cemetery.
