Genevieve Orbacz

SAUGERTIES – Genevieve Orbacz, 97, of The Birches, died on Tuesday, March 3, 2025, at Northern Dutchess Hospital. She was born in Schenectady, NY, on January 21, 1928, to the late Antoni and Aniela (Bieniek) Stempkowski. She graduated from Nott Terrace High School. She was a loving and dedicated wife and mother, having 10 children. After she was widowed, Genevieve worked at Kmart in Kingston for many years. She loved her job, made many friends there, and enjoyed traveling by bus. She was so sorry when the store closed.

Genevieve loved riding her bike around the village of Saugerties. She also loved admiring her flower garden. Genevieve always had a smile and was kind to everyone.

Survivors include her daughters: Linda Orbacz of Highland; Patricia (John) Nilsen of Hurley; Karen Schoonmaker of Poughkeepsie; and Barbara (Marc Boulais) of Pittsfield, MA; her sons: Rick (Candy) Orbacz of Lakeland, FL, and Brian (Linda) Orbacz of Allentown, PA; her sister, Florence (Madej) of Niskayuna, NY; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Victor; her children, Christine, Michael, Susan (Kubisky), and Jeffrey; and her sisters, Statia Repka, Gladys Nowak, Helen Soris, and Anna Mae Lewinski.

Her funeral procession will form at 9:15 AM on Wednesday at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc. The procession will continue to St. Mary of the Snow Church for a 10 AM Funeral Mass. Burial will follow at St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2–4 PM and 7–9 PM.
