George Barthel Obituary
George M. Barthel, 90, of Pleasant Ridge Drive died Friday June 13, 2025 at his residence. Born October 2, 1934 in Ozone Park, NY he was the son of the late Erich and Gertrude Barthel. An area resident for over 69 years, he was employed at IBM in Kingston for 35 years retiring in 1992. He enjoyed hiking with family and friends, completing the Catskill 3500 Club three times and hiking rim to rim in the Grand Canyon. An avid sailor he sailed Long Island Sound from boyhood through his sixties.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, two sons: Steven of West Hurley and Douglas of Woodstock. Five grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.
