SAUGERTIES - George Turco, respected businessman and proud US Navy Veteran, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on November 7, 1943 in Tarrytown, NY, George's life was one of hard work, dedication, service and love.
George's journey began as a young man in the US Navy, where he served his country with honor from 1961 to 1964. Following his military service, George returned home and embarked on a successful career as the co-owner of Turco Brothers Water and LisMar Oil. He was a Lifetime Member of the Saugerties Elks Lodge #2574.
George’s greatest joy was his family and his cars. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Patricia, whom he married in 1965 and predeceased him in 2023. Together they raised two loving daughters, Patricia Marie Douglas and her husband Scott Douglas and Catherine A. Lenz. His four cherished grandchildren–Brittany L. Lenz and her husband Phil Staples, Michael S. Lenz, Marisa E. Douglas, and Stephanie M. Douglas–were the lights of his life. He is also survived by his beloved siblings, Jeanette O’Connor, Joseph Turco, Sandy Turco and Andi Turco-Levin, cousins, nieces and nephews, his treasured caregiver, Lavern, and his faithful cat, Darwinian.
His Funeral Service will be held 10 AM Wednesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, 45 John Street, Saugerties. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday evening from 6-9 PM. Expressions of condolences may be shared with the family on George's Tribute Wall at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
