Obituary

Our hearts are heavy as we announce the passing of Harold Joers, Sr. He passed away on Sunday November 6, 2022 at the Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Center in Wilmington, NC surrounded by his family. Born March 13, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY, he was a longtime resident of Saugerties. Harold was an avid outdoors-man and member of the Saugerties Fish and Game Club, charter member of the Saugerties Elks Lodge and former member of the Catskill Mountain Motorcycle Club. He worked at Ferroxcube from 1964 to 1970 and then opened his own machine shop, “Halco” in 1970. He went back to Ferroxcube in 1984 and retired in 1988.


Harold was an honest, hard working family man and enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, woodworking, boating, motorcycling, maple syrup making and playing cards.


Harold is survived by is beloved wife of 67 years, Ethel; his two devoted sons, Harold Jr. (Yanfei) Joers and Todd (Linda) Joers; and his two loving granddaughters, Allie Joers and Nickie Joers, all from Saugerties.


Burial will be at the Blue Mountain Cemetery after a private graveside service. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration Of Life on Saturday April 29, 2023 from 2pm to 5pm at the Saugerties Elks Lodge.
