     Helen Elizabeth (Betty) Adam, 94 of Saugerties died peacefully Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Ten Broeck Commons Rehabilitation Center.  She was born March 23, 1929 in Jersey City, NJ daughter of the late Charles and Helen Murphy Carr.  In 1951 she married Robert J. Adam in Kearny, NJ and in 1955 they relocated to the Mid-Hudson Valley where they raised five children. Betty was an avid NY Mets fan, which made for some interesting discussions with her husband Robert who rooted for the NY Yankees!  The two of them enjoyed the camaraderie of league bowling, and the enduring friendships they cultivated while playing  card games regularly.  The family often took trips to New Jersey to visit family and allow the cousins to spend time together.

     Survivors include four daughters: Diane Adam of Bloomington, MN., Jayne (James) Velie of Lake Katrine, Joyce (Randy) Reno of Anaheim CA., and Karen Zahn of Saugerties.  A son, John (Jodi) Adam of Kingston.  Five grandchildren: Troy Velie, Vanessa and Andrew Reno,  Jesse (Haley) and Jenna Adam.  Two  great grandsons: Avery Reno and Elliot Adam.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.  She was predeceased by her husband Robert in 2022, a grandson: Kyle Zahn and her siblings: Catherine May and Charles Carr.

     Her Funeral Service was held privately.   Interment in the family plot at the St. Mary's Cemetery, Saugerties.
