Helen VanKirk Obituary
Helen Delores (Ronk) Van Kirk passed away quietly at her home, December 24, 2023. She is the daughter of Percy and Florence Ronk.
Helen attended Poughkeepsie high school, class of 1951. Soon after she worked for Central Hudson, then later worked for Service Merchandise as assistant manager. Helen, most recently volunteered as patient representative at the Kingston Hospital. She married in 1952 to C. Roy Van Kirk, and they are survived by five children, Steven, Deborah, Bryan, Mark, and Kathleen. Helen liked cars, her first a '62 T Bird, followed by a '65 Impala SS convertible, '68 Mercury Montego, '71 Torino, '70 LeMans, '81 Fiat Spyder, and Mazda Miata, yes, she drove a stick. She embraced the moniker "Hot Rod Helen" from her peers. Helen was loved by everyone, known for her amicable, easy-going personality. She always thought of others first, sometimes at her own inconvenience, and happily doing so.
A Service of Rememberence will be held at the Hurley Reformed Church at a date to be announced. Interment will be held privately in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
