Irene Petersen

Irene A. Petersen (nee Fox), 74, passed away on August 4, 2024, in Albany, New York. Born on April 9,1950, in Manhattan, New York, she was a courageous and compassionate individual known for her deep love for animals and her sharp wit. Irene graduated from the Roosevelt Hospital School of Nursing, which laid the foundation for her nurturing character. Throughout her life, Irene was a devoted spouse, first to Michael Brown and later to Richard Petersen, both of whom preceded her in death. Her commitment to her family and friends was strong, often advocating fiercely for those she loved. Her Home was a sanctuary for numerous beloved pets over the years, Including Velvet, Sammy, Squeaky, Sebastian, NeNe, and CleoPeanut. Irene's adventurous spirit and tenacity were evident in every challenge she faced, often holding strong opinions which she expressed with clarity and humor. Irene is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Fox; brothers, Edward and John Fox; niece, Anna Fox-Rothman; and great-niece, Kelsey Donohue. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Bernard Fox. Irene's life was marked by her passionate advocacy and love, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. Her Funeral Service will be held 3:30 pm Friday, September 6, 2024 at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc. Inurnment will follow in the Blue Mountain Cemetery.
