Jacqueline M. Rea, 96, of Joseph's Drive and formerly of John St., died Sunday, January 4, 2026 at the Benedictine Hospital. Born December 16, 1929 in Revere, MA, she was the daughter of the late Evelyn Singleton and Frank E. Hradek. She was the step-daughter of Ethel A. Hradek. A graduate of The Mary Lewis Academy in Jamaica, Queens, she received her Bachelor's Degree in Education (Summa Cum Laude) from St. John's University Brooklyn NY and pursued her Masters in Education from The College of St Rose Albany NY.
She began a teaching career at P.S. 145 in Brooklyn NY prior relocating to Saugerties where she continued her career in the Saugerties Central Schools as a permanent substitute teacher for 30 years retiring in 2004.
Jackie was a charter member of the Saugerties Columbiettes, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years remaining very active in Veterans’ affairs, St Mary’s of the Snow Rosary Society, March of Dimes organization, Saugerties Historical Society, Saugerties Democratic Party and the NYS Teacher's Assoc.
Jackie was an avid reader & movie buff. She was a dog lover especially fond of her German Shepherds.
She was predeceased by her husband, G. Thomas Rea Jr, a daughter, Anne D. Rea, a son, Francis X. "Frank" Rea, two grandsons and Daisy her Springer Spaniel. Survivors include four sons, Thomas (Joanne), Michael, Chris (Mary) and Robert Rea all of Saugerties, two daughters, Mary Rea-Biagiotti of Delmar NY and Jacqueline (Christopher) Connerton of Delmar NY, her beloved niece, Donna Magaldino of Bozeman MT , ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and her beloved German Shepard, Heidi IV.
Her Funeral Procession will form 9:15 am Friday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties thence to St. Mary of the Snow RC Church where at 10:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends will be received Thursday 4:00-7:00 PM. Donations may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital in lieu of flowers.
