James Chianchiano

SAUGERTIES - James Chianchiano died on January 28, 2026, after a brief illness at WMC Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston, NY.  He was surrounded by family and friends.  He was born March 28, 1951 in the Borough Park section of Brooklyn to Virginia Garaffo Chianchiano and Giuanto (Jimmy) Chianchiano.  He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Robert Chianchiano. 

Following the death of his parents, he lived with his mother’s cousins – first, with Marie Aiello, in Brooklyn, and subsequently with Anthony Aiello, in New Paltz.   They also predeceased him.  A special note should be made about his cousin Marie Aiello who created a warm and loving home for him and ensured he was well cared for.

Ultimately, he made his home with the ​ARC Mid-Hudson in Saugerties, guided by Anthony’s children, Marie Aiello Bianco (New Paltz), Michael Aiello (New Paltz) and John Aiello (Englishtown, NJ).  They and their spouses (Matthew Bianco, Robert Witkowski and Gayle Angelson) survive him along with extended family members.

James led a full life surrounded by family and friends, who took him under their wings and made him feel a part of their lives.  James truly blossomed during his time with ​ARC Mid-Hudson which provided him with the independence and support he cherished.  He enjoyed trips, activities and friendships that enriched his life.  His family is very appreciative of ​ARC Mid-Hudson.

​His Funeral Procession will form 9:45 AM on Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.  Thence to St. Mary of the Snow RC Church where at 10:30 AM  a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered.  Friends will be received Friday 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM.
