James P. Cornelison, 83, of John St. died suddenly Monday, October 27, 2025, at the HealthAlliance Hospital. Born December 5, 1941, in Seattle, Washington he was the son of the late Vernon and Anita Cornelison. A Veteran of the US Navy he served during the Vietnam War from 1961-1969. An area resident since 1978 he previously resided in Elmira.
He was a member of the Saugerties American Legion Post #72 for 37 years. Active in scouting he was a Cub Scout Pack Leader in Elmira and a Assistant Scout Leader of Troop 135 in Glasco. He was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Snow RC Church in Saugerties.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen; three sons, James (Elaine), Timothy, and Sean (Charleen) Cornelison; sister, Margaret Hoglund of Washington; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Procession will form 9:15 am Friday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., Cor. of John & LaFayette St., Saugerties thence to St. Mary of the Snow RC Church where at 10:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
