John G. Armstrong

John G. “Jack” Armstrong, 86, of High Woods Road died Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Health Alliance Hospital, Mary’s Ave. Campus. Born January 15, 1937 in the Bronx, he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Armstrong, who moved to Mount Vernon to raise their six sons. A Saugerties resident since 1969, Jack was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a longtime employee of AT&T and Verizon. When he wasn’t working, Jack could be found on the golf course, watching the Yankee game, or pouring over the latest Abraham Lincoln biography. He loved to draw, play darts, and visit art museums. 

Predeceased by his wife, Patricia in 2016 and his son, Gregory in 2021, survivors include his daughter-in-law Lisa Armstrong of Highland and two grandchildren: Olivia (Kevin Fox) and Jake Armstrong (Sara Armstrong). Several nieces and nephews also survive, including Gary Armstrong, Frances Armstrong, and Catherine Armstrong-Jeffers. Jack’s Funeral Service will be held 5:30 PM Thursday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Friends will be received on Thursday from 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM.
