John H. Putman

WOODSTOCK - John H. Putman, 91, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024. He was born on April 16, 1933 to the late Howard and Florence Putman. He grew up in Johnstown, NY where his passion was playing multiple sports.  He continued that passion into his later years as an active member of Woodstock Golf Club and the Vero Beach (FL) Tennis Club, where he and his wife would spend winters.  

John worked for 30 plus years at Ferroxcube Corp. in Saugerties, NY.  His career led him to be active in local civic projects where his passion for perfection was put to good use.   This continued in all aspects of his life where friends and neighbors admired his gardens, woodworking and well-maintained family home.  He was always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Joan Putman; two children, Kim and her partner Victor, and Greg Putman all of Woodstock; brothers, William and Robert Putman and two grandchildren Conner and Taylor.

His Funeral Service will be held 10 am Tuesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc. Burial will follow in the Woodstock Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 4-7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Woodstock Emergency Squad.
