John Frederick Renner, Jr., 65, of Saugerties passed away peacefully on May 18, 2024, surrounded by love with his family at his side. Johnny was born on July 12, 1958, to the late Katherine and John “Fred” Renner. Johnny was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment with his loved ones. His personality was larger than life and he easily became a friend to anyone he met. He truly embodied the phrase, 'to know Johnny was to love him'. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed camping, NASCAR, car shows in his hot rod, and any activity that his grandchildren were involved in. Johnny started his employment at Tree Preservation and went on to have a 30 plus year career with the New York State Thruway.
In retirement, Johnny enjoyed working as a truck driver for multiple excavation companies, but was most proud to work along side his boys supporting and building up their dreams in any way he could. Johnny lived an admirable life, but above all, his greatest accomplishment was the family he and his wife built. His family was absolutely everything to him and he made sure everyone knew it. His love was vibrant and smile contagious. He proudly passed on his humor, strong-will, and most importantly, his heart onto two more generations.
Johnny’s legacy will live on through his wife of 41 years Barbara; his sons Justin (Jodi), Brandon (Mallory), and Rick (Amber); his grandchildren Wyatt, Cooper, Charlee, Everett, Brennley and Hawkin; numerous nieces and nephews and his extended family and friends. Johnny is predeceased by his mother, father and brother, Joe Hommel.
His Funeral Procession will form 8:45 am Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc. Procession will continue to the St. John's Church, Woodstock where a 10 am Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will follow in the Blue Mt. Cemetery, Saugerties. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday. A memorial tribute book will be organized using photos and condolences shared at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
