Jorge R. Granda, passed away peacefully at his residence in Saugerties, New York, on August 26, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on May 28, 1936, in Havana, Cuba, to Juan and Maria Louisa Granda, Jorge's life was a testament to the enduring spirit of hope and the value of hard work.
Jorge's journey brought him from the vibrant streets of Havana to the bustling city of New York, where he found his calling in the hospitality industry. For many years, he dedicated himself to serving others as a waiter at the prestigious New York Athletic Club in New York City. His warm smile and attentive service were appreciated by all who had the pleasure of encountering him. Jorge was a devoted husband and father to his late wife and son, Maria and Gary Granda, they shared values and devotion to family. Together, they were involved in their community, particularly within the parish of St. John’s the Evangelist. Their commitment to the church was more than just attendance; it was an extension of their home and family life, where they devoted much of their time and hearts.
Jorge is survived by his devoted sons, Mark and Jeffrey, who remember their father as a man of integrity and kindness. His brothers, Angel, Remberto, and Sixto, will fondly recall the countless memories they shared. Jorge's five grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride, will carry forward the lessons of compassion and generosity he instilled in them.
His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 1pm at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Sts, Saugerties. Burial will follow in the Blue Mountain Cemetery.
