Joseph P. Buytkins

SAUGERTIES.....Joseph P. Buytkins, 82, of  Cross St., died Friday, January 5, 2024 at the Westchester Medical Center.   Born August 30, 1941 in Saugerties he was the son of the late Stanley and Alice Buytkins. 

 A lifetime Saugerties resident, Joe graduated from Saugerties High School and entered the US Army during the Vietnam War receiving his honorable discharge in 1964.     He was employed for many years at the Kingston Daily Freeman in the pressroom and later at the Catskill Mt. Star and Saugerties Post Star.    He and his wife Lynda owned and operated J&L Printing in Saugerties.    He was a member of the VFW Post #5034 and a former member of the NRA, the Saugerties Fire Dept., and the Saugerties Bowlers Club.

Predeceased by his wife, Lynda, survivors include one son: Joel Buytkins of Oregon, two sisters: Mary Cook and Carol Lee Petersen and several nieces and nephews  also survive.   He was predeceased by his other siblings: Ann Nierdauer, Joan Cashdollar and Paul  Buytkins.

His Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.  Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Monday 3PM- 6PM.  Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family on Joe's Tribute Wall at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
