Joseph A. “Joe” Cotich Sr. of John Carle Rd. and formerly of Cementon, died Wednesday, December 18, 2024 after 95 wonderful years. Born June 5, 1929 in Cementon, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna Cotich. A lifetime area resident, he held many jobs from being the builder and co-owner of the Cementon Garage to retiring from IBM in Kingston.
He was a member of the Cementon Sportsman Club, Knights of Columbus, Catskill Elks Lodge and the Croatian Fraternal Lodge. For many years, he and his wife enjoyed snowbirding in Myrtle Beach with family and close friends. Some of Joe’s hobbies included golfing, cars, jigsaw puzzles, and the NY Yankees, all of which he enjoyed in the company of his family. His favorite people called him “Pa.”
Predeceased by his wife, Betty, survivors include his three children: Joseph A. (Deb) Cotich Jr. of New Paltz, John R. (Trina) Cotich of Cementon and Nancy J. (Tom) Foley of Saugerties. Four grandchildren: Chris (Joann) Cotich, Kara (Peter) Gray, Heather (Keith) Pruden, Taylor (Ashton) Rodman. Five great-grandchildren (Harper, Carter, Maya, Catch and Cricket), step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The youngest of ten, he was predeceased by all of his siblings: Bora Cotic, Pauline Nezich, Michael Cotich, Anthony Cotich, Petar Cotich, Katherine McLaughlin, Mary Mayone, Peter Cotich, and George Cotich.
Friends will be received on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & LaFayette Sts., Saugerties. His Funeral Procession will form 9:30 AM Monday at the funeral home, thence to St. Mary of the Snow where a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
