Joseph Palumbo, passed away peacefully at his residence in Glasco on January 20, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on October 15, 1944, in Saugerties, New York to the late Frank, Sr. and Kenia Compagna Palumbo.
Predeceased by his siblings, Frank and Jimmy Palumbo, Eleanor Serra, Theresa Bradley, and Michael Palumbo, Joseph's legacy of love and laughter lives on through his beloved wife of 29 years, Barbara, his stepson, Ryan Jones, and his sister, Virginia Marciano.
Joseph was employed for 35 years at Ferroxcube (Philips), where he not only contributed his skills and knowledge but also formed lasting friendships. His dedication extended beyond his professional life. A lifelong Glasco resident, Joseph relished in the small-town camaraderie. He was an active and respected member of the Glasco Fire Department, serving on committees which built the current building, as commissioner, and as Sergeant of Arms. He was also a parishioner of St. Joseph’s RC Church, Glasco.
An enthusiastic participant in the Saugerties Bowler's Club, Joseph's passion for bowling led him to be featured on the 1969 "King of the Hill” Bowling Championship segment on ABC. He was also a passionate baseball fan, with The Mets being his most loved team. In his younger years, he coached softball and little league teams. He also enjoyed visiting ball parks to see his favorite teams play, including recent trips to Fenway Park and Citi Field.
His Funeral Procession will form 9:15 am on Wednesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Sts. It will continue to the St. Joseph’s RC Church for a 10 am Funeral Mass. Burial will follow in the St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, with a reception to follow. Visitation will be held Tuesday 2-4 and 9-7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to DaughtersofMary.net a , or to a children’s charity of choice.
