MALDEN ON HUDSON…… Juanita A. Riccardi, 95, of Bigelow Road died Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Golden Hill Rehabilitation Center. Born March 27, 1926 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Carlos and Gilda Rivera de Rivera.
An area resident since 1975, she had previously resided in New York City and North Yonkers. Her creative side was best experienced during her days of Spanish dancing, when she performed throughout the US, Canada, and Cuba, often designing and making her own costumes. After meeting and marrying the love of her life, Carmen “Ricky” Riccardi, she shifted careers to motherhood and owning and operating a successful beauty salon. She was a former parishioner of Christ the King Parish in Yonkers, a Cub Scout den mother, an Altar Society Member, an active member in her community, and the mom who made magnificent meals and Puerto Rican coffee for everyone who came to the house. She made many sacrifices in her life to ensure her family always came first.
Predeceased by her husband, Ricky, survivors include a son, Vincent (Emily) Riccardi of Texas and a daughter, Gilda Riccardi of Saugerties; four grandchildren, Alyson (Matt) Riccardi Breslin, Matthew Riccardi, Jack Froude and Luke Froude; and two great-grandchildren, Dominic Breslin and Sullivan Breslin.
Ahora Juanita ha empezado una vida nueva en el cielo, andando mano en mano con su amor Ricky juntos en un comienzo nuevo. Te amamos Juanita y ya te extrañamos. Siempre se quedará en nuestros corazones.
Her Funeral Service was held privately with internment in St. Mary’s Cemetery Barclay Heights, Saugerties. Arrangements were under the direction of the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Memorial contributions may be made to organizations dear to Juanita, including nursing scholarships or organizations for the preservation of indiginous and Latin culture.
