Laura M. Lane, passed away at the age of 64 on September 4, 2025, surrounded by her children and husband in Poughkeepsie, NY, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born on November 16, 1960, in Kingston to LeRoy Lane and the late Mary Anne Lane.
Accompanied by her husband, Reginald Rifenburgh, II. She raised a family that included three children, Tara Lane (William “Bill” VanWagenen), Deirdre Lane-Rifenburgh, and Reginald Rifenburgh, III (Alexandria Rifenburgh). Laura's legacy continues through her five adoring grandchildren, Keira, Mary Anne Rose, Laurance, Leif Marin, and Lane, who will forever cherish memories of their grandmother's love and gentle guidance.
Laura's passion for education led her to earn a Master's Degree in Special Education from SUNY New Paltz College. She embarked on her career to serve as a Special Education Teacher, where she learned her true passion lay with raising her own children. She was a very dedicated, courageous, brilliant and righteous woman who instilled these values in her children and grandchildren.
Her Catholic faith, started with her baptism at St. Francis de Sales Church in Phoenicia, it provided her with strength and solace through her most challenging times. Laura's creative soul found expression in her love for antiques and her talent as an artist. Her artistic works and keen eye for antiques were not only a testament to her skill but also a reflection of the beauty she saw in the world around her. Laura's siblings, Valerie Mills, Paul Lane, Victor Lane, Jennifer Jewett, LeRoy Lane, and Bridget Lane, will fondly remember her for the creativity and passion she brought into their lives.
Her Funeral Procession will form 8:45 am Tuesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc. It will continue to St. Francis de Sales Church, Phoenicia where a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Rural Cemetery, Mt. Tremper.
