Loraine D. Ferraro, 87, of Catskill, NY, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025, at TenBroeck Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
Born on May 2, 1938, in East Jewett, NY, she was the daughter of the late Timothy and Marion Benjamin. Predeceased by her husband, Vincent of 55 years and her seven siblings, Evelyn Fellows, Elnora Thorne, Harriet Morris, Gilbert, Reginald, William and Louis Benjamin.
Loraine is survived by her eight children, Veronica (David) Holmquist, Gina (Cliff) Wayman, Rainey (Richard) Josephson, Yvonne (Phillip) All, Vincent (Deborah), Louis (Lisa), Michael (Heidi) and James (Nadine) Ferraro. 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Loraine was a resident of the Saugerties area for most of her life and was a devoted wife and mother. Her love for her family was the center of her life. In addition to caring for her own eight children, Loraine and her late husband, Vincent, who was her partner for 55 years, welcomed two of their nieces into their home, providing them with love and support until they grew up and married. Loraine’s love for her family was truly undeniable.
Loraine was a pillar of the community. Together with her husband, she ran the Village Cobbler shoe repair shop for many years until their retirement. She was also devoted to her church, participating in the Holy Name Society at St. Joseph in Glasco. Additionally, Loraine dedicated many years to supporting the Young Marines unit , helping with uniforms , bake sales etc.. Her love for sports was evident in her early years; she played softball in Saugerties on a team called the Cuties. Loraine's commitment to her children, through their schooling and extracurricular activities, showcased her as a remarkable and strong mother and grandmother.
Her funeral service will be at 8AM on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., Cor. of John & Lafayette Streets, Saugerties,NY, burial at the family plot at the St Mary’s Cemetery. Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home.
