Lucinda Tobin Obituary

SAUGERTIES - Lucinda Finn Tobin died unexpectedly at Kingston Hospital surrounded by loving family on December 5, 2025. Lucy was a survivor—of in-utero polio, terrible car accidents, and a major stroke. She was also a miracle—one of the few patients ever to recover kidney function and get off of dialysis. She moved to Ulster County 20 years ago,  working at CVS and Stop & Shop and filling the Hudson Valley with her laughter. She remained, however, a devoted Boston sports fan eagerly supporting the Red Sox and the Celtics every year. She loved to thrift and find treasures, and was one of the truly talented gift-givers, delighting her family with perfect surprises. Most of all, Lucy was a proud and devoted mother to her beloved daughter, Devin Tara and she cherished Devin’s partner David Zukor. Their trips together to playoffs, thrift stores, and Provincetown were among the great joys of her life.

She was born in Manhattan, grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts, graduated from the Stoneleigh Burnham School, attended Bard College, and graduated from Boston State with a degree in early childhood education. She was a playful and loving preschool teacher, beloved by children wherever she went. Animals adored her as well and among her survivors are two extraordinary cats, Chester and Tiberius. Since moving to Saugerties, she has been an active member of the Rebecca’s and one of her happiest days was enjoying the Polar Express train ride with her friends the week before she passed.

In addition to Devin Tobin and David Zukor of New York City, she leaves behind her sister Perdita Finn of Woodstock, New York and brother-in-law Clark Strand, her brother Mark Finn of Chappaqua, New York and sister-in-law Michal Seligman, as well as her niece Sophie and her nephews Adam, Danny and Jonah.

Visitation will be held at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral home at 45 John St. in Saugerties, NY on Tuesday December 9th from 11:00 AM -1:00 PM.  A funeral service will be on Saturday, December 13th at 11 AM.   Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family on Lucinda's Tribute Wall at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
