SAUGERTIES…. Marcia DeAngelis, 68 , of John St., died Friday, July 2, 2021 at the Vassar Brothers Hospital after a brief illness. Born February 26, 1953 in Kingston she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Marion Auer. A lifetime area resident she was a graduate of Saugerties High School Class of 1971 and received her Bacherlor’s and Master’s Degree from SUNY New Paltz. She began a career teaching 2nd and 3rd Grade at Cahill Elementary School for twenty years. She was instrumental in forming the Garden Club at Cahill School so the students could learn how to plant vegetables and flowers. She enjoyed the peace and tranquility of walking the trails at “Fallen Waters” and “Esopus Bend”. She was a volunteer at the Saugerties Boys and Girls Club and a member of St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church in Woodstock.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph, with whom they recently celebrated their 49th Wedding Anniversary, a son, Michael J. DeAngelis of Saugerties and a daughter, Amy DeAngelis and her fiancé Ryan Kime of Saugerties. Two grandchildren, Nicholas and Christian DeAngelis-Martin of Saugerties. A sister, Mimi Rumney of Utah and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by a sister, Felicia Kemlage.
Her Funeral Service will be held 10:00 am Tuesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. Of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saugerties. Friends will be received Monday 3:00-5:00 PM. Family suggests donations in her memory be made to Saugerties Public Library.
