Marcia Silverman passed away on April 30th following a long battle with cancer. Marcia was born in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan, NY to Dorothy Brenner Silverman and Adolphe Silverman. The family relocated to Yonkers, NY two years later. Marcia graduated from Yonkers High School and then earned a Bachelor of Arts from Lehman, a City College university. She subsequently earned a Master of Science degree in Health Administration from Long Island University. Marcia was employed at several nursing homes and as day manager of the Emergency Department at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Manhattan. In 1987 she relocated to the Hudson Valley and lived in Wappingers Falls for a brief time before purchasing the family home in Marbletown. Marcia sought employment with Ulster County government, and worked in Social Services and at the Probation Department for nearly three decades. Her favorite work was as a Juvenile Probation Officer, which she found extremely rewarding. Marcia loved music, theater, reading and travel. Her one regret was being physically unable to return to Europe when she became ill.
Anyone who knows Marcia is aware of her adoration for her children Sararose McCabe Inge of West Hurley and Daniel Padraig McCabe of Kingston, and granddaughter Eloise Isla Inge. They were her strongest supporters through her illness.
She is also survived by her brother, Lawrence Silverman of West Milford NJ, and sister-in-law and niece.
