Meggin Cox Obituary

Meggin P. Cox, 62, of Allegany, NY passed away on June 27, 2026, after a battle with cancer. Born on May 21, 1964, at St. Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, NY. Meggin grew up in Saugerties and was a 1982 graduate of Saugerties High School. She loved drawing as a child, and it was in high school that she started to develop her artistic talent more seriously. She was also a member of the Saugerties High School Color Guard and ran on the Track and Field team. She earned an Associate’s degree from Ulster County Community College in 1984, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan in 1987.

Meggin lived in Brooklyn, NY for many years, using her artistic ability wherever she was employed. She moved back to Saugerties in the spring of 2010 to help her father until his death later that year. She worked at Nasco Healthcare in Malden for 11 years. For the past three years, Meggin lived in Allegany, NY. She was working on plans for her future at the time of her diagnosis. She faced her treatment bravely and was very fortunate to have her sister Maureen’s support and direct involvement in her care.

Meggin’s family will remember her as a fun-loving, friendly person with a bit of a mischievous streak. She was a very talented artist and loved her pets dearly. She will be missed very much.

Meggin is survived by her sisters Colleen P. Cox, of Wynantskill, NY, Maureen P. Cox (Randy Schubert), of Olean. NY, Sharon P. Cox (Matt Ciak), of Portland, CT, and long-time partner John Cassidy, of Saugerties, NY. She is predeceased by her parents Cornelius M. Cox and Elizabeth A. Millonig, and brother Patrick M. Cox.

Her Funeral Procession will form 9:15 am Friday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc. Then will continue to the St. Mary of the Snow Church where a 10 am Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will follow in the St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery. Visiation will be 6-8 pm on Thursday. Memorial donations may be made to the Saugerties Animal Shelter at 1767 Rte. 212, Saugerties, NY 12477.
